چکیده

INTRODUCTION Ankle injuries result in a significant amount of time lost from work and sport activity. The ankle is the most commonly injured joint in the body and 85% of those ankle injuries are lateral ankle sprains. 1 These injuries often result in residual disability with over 70% of those who suffered a lateral ankle injury reporting persistent symptoms 6 to 18 months postinjury, including pain, weakness, neuromuscular dysfunction, and most problematically, recurrent sprains; a condition termed ankle instability. 2,3 Repetitiveankle sprains have been linked to osteoarthritis and articular degeneration. 4 .

Objective Some individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI) termed as functional ankle instability (FAI) suffer from repetitive ankle giving way and feeling of ankle joint instability during dynamic activities like walking. Walking, as a postural task, requires some central attention to integrate sensory inputs, estimate, and plan and produce proper motor outputs. Attention demanding cognit...

Fatigue's effect on eversion force sense in individuals with and without functional ankle instability.

CONTEXT Force sense (FS), the proprioceptive ability to detect muscle-force generation, has been shown to be impaired in individuals with functional ankle instability (FAI). Fatigue can also impair FS in healthy individuals, but it is unknown how fatigue affects FS in individuals with FAI. OBJECTIVE To assess the effect of fatigue on ankle-eversion force-sense error in individuals with and wi...
